Co-Pilot
Delivered in partnership with Spotify, AAM's flagship mentoring program Co-Pilot aims to strengthen the management sector and promote sustainable career growth for the next generation of artist managers. Co-Pilot provides selected participants with access to essential peer-to-peer mentoring, professional development, networking opportunities and the latest industry-relevant information, supporting them as they navigate changes in the music industry and the next steps in their careers.
Placements
Placements is a pilot artist management paid internship program delivered by the Association of Artist Managers (AAM) and supported by Sound NSW, providing realistic, hands-on and sustainable training pathways for developing the next generation of artist managers.
Music Australia International Conference Contribution - Managers
Designed to ease the financial burden for managers who are attending a major international music conference, MAICC funding financially supports selected AAM-member managers who represent artists with demonstrated potential in a specific international market, so the manager can undertake an invaluable reconnaissance trip - and/or be present on-ground to maximise outcomes for their showcasing artists - at a major international music conference, during a critical moment in their artists', or their own, international career. The program provides contributions of up to $5000 AUD to selected AAM-member managers.
NSW Managers Retreat
The 2024 NSW Managers Retreat is a peer-to-peer professional development residency for 12 globally active and experienced NSW-based artist managers of intermediate to advanced level. Running over 3 days, the Retreat is a curated environment for high-level sharing of knowledge and professional development between manager peers.
Walk This Way
Walk This Way is a professional development and mentoring program that brings together emerging music artist managers for a 12 month, one-on-one mentorship, alongside a series of professional development activities. Walk This Way focuses on building networks, career paths and providing industry support that is tailored specifically to music artist managers working in regions outside of capital cities and/or major commercial markets who are seeking to build national and international pathways for themselves and their artists.
Revive
Revive was a specialised professional development program that in 2022 supported 10 x mid to established business-owner artist managers to set clear strategic goals for their businesses and artists, as they rebuilt and reset post-pandemic. This program was delivered by Compton School, who worked alongside the AAM in developing the program format and materials. Compton’s curriculum is purpose-built for the creative industries and covers leadership, finance, structures, strategy and decision-making.
Manager Buddies
Manager Buddies is an initiative of the Association of Artist Managers, MMF UK, MMF Canada, EMMA (European Music Managers Alliance) and MMF Aotearoa that coincides with select major international music conferences around the world, and is aimed at building professional connections between managers from different countries.
Music Passport
Music Passport was an Export Market Development program that served as a comprehensive research mission, enabling two early-mid career managers to create pathways and build professional networks in the North American market, led by an established artist manager mentor. The program provided participants an opportunity to pursue and develop in roads on behalf of their artists, before significant investment was made in US touring or release set-up.
BOOST
The Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO) and AAM launched BOOST to financially support Victorian managers who were attending SXSW (US), The Great Escape (UK) or BIGSOUND (Meanjin/Brisbane) in 2023 with a showcasing artist. Eligible managers received a share of funding for their round, which was evenly distributed and offered as a bursary to all eligible applicants, assisting them with the cost of international or interstate travel to attend SXSW, The Great Escape or BIGSOUND.
Gimme Shelter
Gimme Shelter was an early intervention mental health program, delivered online and tailored to artist managers. Developed by the AAM and delivered with assistance from Support Act and the Australian Government, Gimme Shelter was designed to build workplace skills, resilience and a long-term approach to mental health and wellbeing for managers and their artists.
Warner First Nations Mentorship
Australia’s unique Indigenous artistic and cultural expression is founded on thousands of years of heritage and continuing practice. As the inequities within our industry and greater society continue to be highlighted, the work of music industry organisations such as the Association of Artist Managers and Warner Music Australia in creating pathways for ATSI managers becomes even more critical.
Commencing in 2014, this program evolved into a multifaceted professional development program consisting of peer to peer mentorship, essential development workshops and networking opportunities.
Fast Track Fellowship
The Fast Track Fellowship is a unique program to support the best and brightest of independent Victorian artist managers expand past their national connections, and build their international networks. The program supports selected Victorian managers to submerge themselves in an overseas management company for a period of two months, fostering skills development, the building of international networks, relationships, opportunities and experiences, within the international music business community.
Fairgrounds Managers Sanctuary
The concept behind the Fairgrounds Manager Sanctuary is to value managers as professionals and build strong peer to peer management networks locally and internationally. The informally structured program, facilitated by former AAM Executive Director Leanne de Souza, aimed to share insights and learnings from a global industry that is constantly shifting. There were opportunities to switch off and relax, go for swims, eat meals together, and unwind for the year.
Right Here, Right Now
In 2022 the AAM presented Right Here, Right Now - a week of discussions and insights aimed at motivating and inspiring artist managers.
More Than A One Night Stand
The More Than A One Night Stand Sessions were an extensive series of free bespoke industry-training programs, panel sessions, songwriting workshops and an industry forum held in the lead up triple j’s highly anticipated 2024 One Night Stand, in the coastal city of Warrnambool, Victoria. Made possible by Music Australia, it brought together music service organisations from across the country including Association of Artist Managers, AIR, APRA AMCOS, CrewCare, Kennell & Co., Live Music Office, Music Australia, Music Victoria, The Push, and VMDO.
NSW Roundtable
Designed to assist early-mid career managers build skills and expand their knowledge of the contemporary music landscape, the AAM’s 2023 NSW Managers Roundtable incorporates group activities & discussion, networking and peer-to-peer learning, specific to the field of artist management and unique to the needs of participants’ artist rosters.
